Mike Beck CD
Recording Sessions

Sabin Recording - Northbrook, Illinois
Friday, July 26, 2002

These photos were shot on the second day of tracking. The first tracking session, with both Steve Tschaikowsky and Rich Maisel contributing fantastic bass parts, took place one week before. Sadly, no photos were shot on that first day of tracking. Alex Hall played drums on all the songs on the Mike Beck CD, while Mike played "scratch" guitar to accompany the bass and drums. Jazz bassist Dan Thatcher was brought in to play upright bass on The Ghost of Mrs. Adler and electric bass on Planet Love.

Boy Genius Alex Hall puts it in the pocket. Alex plays drums on nine of the ten songs on the Mike Beck CD. Thanks for a great job, Maestro! On Ghost of Mrs. Adler, Dan Thatcher played the 1954 Kay "doghouse" bass pictured with Mike (inset). Dan is shown here preparing to lay down electric bass on Planet Love.

Talk about a Monster Cable! Dan Thatcher gets plugged in. The multi-faceted Alex Hall also served as Lead Arranger, creating vocal harmony, keyboard and horn arrangements for the CD.

Oh yeah, he also played Fender Rhodes on Could Have Been, piano on One Minus One and A Little Sunshine (for Randee), and Hammond B3 on Driving Forward.
