The Werepad
San Francisco, California
Saturday, April 20, 2002

My first performance in the land of my birth, California, was thanks to Jared Gallardo and his CD release party for Underbelly. Held at a very hip alternative movie house, The Werepad, in an industrial section of San Francisco, this turned out to be a great night and a fantastic way to punctuate and celebrate the previous three months of performances Jared and I shared. In January, Jared and I performed with my band Big Eyed Beans From Venus at various Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah venues during the Sundance Film Festival. Then, another dozen performances during the Olympics, also in Utah, followed by our month long tour of Holland and Germany in March. The final weekend in March, Jared performed with me and Big Eyed Beans From Venus at Roger Fuller's 27th Annual Flyin' Zion Easter Party. An amazing series of gigs and experiences... Jared's CD release party in San Francisco was a wonderful way to celebrate the culmination of this period.

Jared's entire family was present for the occasion, as was the band with which he recorded Underbelly. Utah Saxman, and occasional Big Eyed Bean Todd Mather was on hand to blow some horn, as was his delightful concubine, the devastatingly lovely videographer/documentarian Alison Perry. A great night. Mazal, Jared!

Me, practicing one of those difficult trademark Jared Gallardo harmony vocal lines. Jared's brother Mark, in the groovy suede blazer. A very talented drummer (or so his mother tells me!). Jared kicked off the party with a few acoustic numbers. Mom...
