My first visit to The Triple
J was on Thursday, March 27 --- Since I happened to have my guitar with me when
I came in, owner Theo joked that I should come back and do a couple songs. I suprised
him when I said "Sure!" and two days later, The Triple J hosted its first in-store
performance (California singer-songwriter Chris
Laterzo did the second two weeks later!).
The Triple J is AMAZING! Definitely one of the best record stores ANYWHERE! Theo's
selection of ultra-rare Blues, Soul and Rock CDs will blow you away! I found dozens
of CDs I'd been seeking for years, including a copy of slide guitar master JB
Hutto's immortal Hawk Squat CD!
I performed a selection of rock and blues tunes, including a fun version of Lynyrd
Skynyrd's Gimme Back My Bullets. The concept behind the "in-store performance"
was confirmed by my appearance at The Triple J... A couple guys at the in-store
came to my show that night in nearby Culemborg!
Thanks Theo and everyone for a great afternoon! And special thanks to Half
Past Midnight's Rob Orlemans for introducing me to The Triple J!
By the way, if you'd like to visit The Triple J (located in Tiel, The Netherlands),
be aware it's only open on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons!
